  1. Im Osten Nichts Neues

In 1928, Remarque had his book, “Im Westen nichts Neues” published in German. It was translated into English as “All Quiet on the Western Front” and a very famous film was made based on the English translation. Many, probably most, US and UK residents have heard of it.

In 1929, Otto had his book “Im Osten Nichts Neues” published in German. AFIK, it has never been translated into English, where, one supposes, it would have been “All Quiet on the Eastern Front” but since it has never been translated, few native English speakers have ever heard of it (myself included until you referenced it).
