  1. I first read of the jezail bullet in A Study in Scarlet, where a young British physician was wounded, the wound festered, he almost died, but survived, a wreck, and was pensioned off. His pension was not enough to afford a flat in London, so he ended up sharing a flat at 222 Baker Street with a young student of forensics, a student who was happy to have a medical expert to assist with his forensic investigations.
