  1. i know the intent of the empires however i still feel for the poor useful dupes who died thinking they were fighting honorable cause. personally i think for US vets is better to die a “hero” than come back to what fate your govt has in store for you after you are not longer useful to them.

  2. Like Carina I also feel for the people who died or fought. The irony is that this war led directly to more war, in the resolution, not to mention the Balfour agreement. Cordite for Zion, I believe.

  3. There’s been some historical debate over that point. The French and Indian Wars (or The Seven Years War, depending on where you’re educated) met a lot of anyone’s standards for a world war. The only problems with renaming it would be deciding what else counts as a world war and keeping the numbers straight. Plus, if you accept one of the longer lists of world wars, “World War Two” would be renamed “World War Thirty,” and that thought might be too depressing. Although maybe there’s nothing wrong with that.
